The company was incorporated in Ghana on 3rd November 1988 and was registered as an Insurer by the National Insurance Commission on 26th February 1993 in accordance with PNDC Law 227 and commenced business on 1st March 1993.

Professor Ato Essuman, Chairman of Donewell Insurance Limited is a Professor of Education and Development and the founding Dean of the Faculty of Education and Entrepreneurship (FEE) of the Methodist University College Ghana. His experience in public service spans over three decades, serving as the Director of the Funds and Procurement Management Unit (FPMU) of the Ministry of Education, the Coordinator for Development Partners in education and later as the Chief Director of the Ministry.

He is serving a third term as a member of the Council of State of Ghana. His previous work experience with Nestlé, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, and TechnoServe Incorporated as well as his varied personal entrepreneurial initiatives, has given him the base for good business orientation. He has served on many Boards and Councils, including governing boards and committees of institutions of the Methodist Church Ghana and of its committees at the Connexional level.

Professor Ato Essuman is a past Lay President of the Methodist Church Ghana. On the 26th of March 2021 he was elected as the 20th Chairman of the West African Examinations Council for a three-year term which ends in 2024.

He led corporate initiatives that focused on pricing, product development, reinsurance, claims administration and pursued alliances and growth opportunities that enlarged the company's client base. During his tenure as the Head of Unit of the Energy Group at IEI, he was able to grow the Unit to the highest business producing unit for the company.

Earlier in his career, he worked at Enterprise Insurance Company Ghana Limited as a Motor Underwriter and later a Client Relations Officer in the Broker Unit. Prior to joining Donewell Insurance Limited, he had a brief stint at Priority Insurance as the Managing Director. Being an Insurer with a transformative and proven track record in the Ghanaian insurance industry, Mr. Aklasi has built capacity in all facets of insurance growth and sustenance, leadership and human capital growth; traits that have been core to the ascending growth of Donewell Insurance Limited since he joined in 2015 as the Chief Executive Officer.

Between 2016 and 2019, he served as the Chairman of the Accident Committee of the Ghana Insurance Association (GIA). He has served two terms as Executive Committee Member of the Ghana National Bureau of the ECOWAS Brown Card Scheme and was Vice Chairman for a second term. He is currently the President of the Ghana insurers Association (GIA) and Member of the Client Rescue Fund Committee of the National Insurance Commission (NIC). He is also an Academic Board Member of the West African Insurance Institute in the Gambia.

Aklasi is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII) London and a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Ghana (FCIIG), he holds an MSc in Insurance and Risk Management from Bayes Business School - City, University of London (formerly Cass Business School) and a BA in Social Science (Geography) from the University of Cape Coast. He was a lecturer at the Cosmopolitan College in Lagos, Nigeria as well as a part-time marketing consultant with Obare & Co. from 1979 – 1980. From 1980 – 1984, he was a lecturer and Head of Marketing, Purchasing & Supply department, Polytechnic of Sokoto State, Birnin, Kebbi, Nigeria. He also lectured briefly at the Takoradi Polytechnic from 1984 – 1985 before joining the Ministry of Commerce & Industry in Botswana as the Principal Industrial Officer from 1985 – 1990.

He later worked with the Ministry of Local Government, Lands & Housing also in Botswana as Senior Economic Planning Officer for Francistown City Council and North East District Council from 1991 – 1997. He holds an HND in Business Studies from the South West London College in England, a Diploma in Marketing & Administrative Management and a post-graduate diploma in Industrial Administration from the University of Greenwich.

He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, the British Institute of Administrative Management and the British Institute of Management. He has several business interests in Tarkwa and is currently the chief of Royal Adwenadze Ebusua of Abosenyi (Mount Pleasant) of Elmina with the stool name Nana Kwakuma Tutu VI. Again he is a visiting Professor of Entrepreneurial University Business School of Costa Rica and Ghana Baptist University College, Kumasi. He was an adjunct lecturer from 2004 to 2018 at GIMPA.

Prof. Adom-Frimpong is currently the Managing Director of Mainstream Reinsurance Company. He worked with PricewaterhouseCoopers for five years as Audit Supervisor, five years with SSNIT as Head of Audit and ABC Brewery Company as Senior Cost and Management Accountant for four years.

Prof. Adom-Frimpong qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1990, and also qualified as a Chartered Banker (FCIB) in 2002. He is the immediate President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICA-Ghana) and also the immediate past President of the Association of Accountancy bodies in West Africa. He is a fellow member of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Ghana. He is again a qualified Lawyer and Barrister of Law with qualifications obtained from the Ghana School of Law. He is a Member of the Ghana Bar Association and a Fellow Member of the Ghana Institute of Taxation.

In 1989, he served as Vice President of Atlantic Hall. He served as the National President of the Ghana Bar Association till November 1, 2021.

In the Consultative Assembly, which reviewed amendments to the 1992 Constitution, he was the youngest member. At the time, he was a representative of the National Service Personnel Association. Additionally, he was a member of the Committee of Five, which was formed from the Consultative Assembly members to condense the Constitution for the National Referendum intended to approve the 1992 Constitution.

Before founding T. Forson & Co., Mr. Forson spent nine years gaining legal experience at the company of Tetteh & Co. In addition to being an assistant lecturer in family law at the Ghana School of Law in 2012, he lectured in media law at the Ghana Institute of Journalism for 11 years.

Anthony Forson was a member of a group of three senior defense attorneys in Ghana's largest business lawsuit regarding the sale of the shares in MTN in Ghana. He is a consultant who has provided guidance to the Ministry of Tourism on a number of subjects and is involved in the writing of regulations and training of immigration employees. He also serves as one of the top counsel for the Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications, which defends the business interests of all Ghanaian mobile operators.

Tony Forson has served as the counsel for Multichoice Ghana Ltd. for more than 17 years as well as Emirates Airlines, Airtel Ghana Ltd., and KAAF University. He also served on the Mfantsipim School Board of Governors in Cape Coast, Ghana.

He serves as a member of the Ghanaian Board of Lands Commission and a Member of the Ghana Bar Association's Board of the Council for Law Reporting. He served as the Chairman of the recent Committee that looked into unauthorized admissions to the Ghana School of Law and is a former member of the General Legal Council.

What does Third party mean in insurance?

A third party is any person who is not a party to the insurance contract.

What is Third Party motor insurance?

This is the basic form of insurance required by law under the Road Traffic Act 1958 for all motor vehicles licensed for road use in Ghana.

What is the difference between Third party motor insurance and Comprehensive motor Insurance?

Third party motor insurance primarily covers damages, injuries or death caused to others due to the policyholder's fault, while comprehensive motor insurance provides wider protection, covering damages to the policyholder's own vehicle as well as liabilities to third-party.

What is a deductible?

A deductible is a specified amount of money that a policyholder must pay out of pocket before an insurance company starts to cover the remaining expenses or losses. When a covered event occurs and a claim is filed, the insurance company evaluates the total cost of the claim. The deductible amount is subtracted from the total claim amount, and the insurance company pays the remaining portion up to the policy's coverage limits.

What is a policy limit?

A policy limit, also known as coverage limit or limit of liability, refers to the maximum amount of money an insurance policy will pay for covered losses or claims. It represents the upper boundary of the insurer's financial responsibility under the policy. Policy limits are specified in the insurance contract and vary depending on the type of insurance and the specific coverage within the policy.
